We are none of us finished. We are perpetually moving forward, changing, growing, expanding, shrinking. As time marches forward I realize we can outgrow people as easily as we once fit into them. And this makes sense of all the people left behind, parts of myself included.

“The soul has illusions as the bird has wings: it is supported by them.” – Victor Hugo

I feel twinges of regret, lamenting all that has come and all that has gone. I’ve forgotten faces and whole chapters of books I once loved. And yet, this morning, I know for each space left behind an invitation is sent out into the world for something new to fill it. And I am overcome with hope.

TIME {Explored!}, originally uploaded by Angieā™„Nan.

Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity. – Henry Van Dyke

Time is beautiful, ethereal. I spent the majority of my life living without regrets. Minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years spent and no regrets. They were what they were, exactly what they were supposed to be, exactly how I arrived here.

Suddenly I find myself spending too much time, finite moments, regretting time already spent. At what point does this become an infinite circular loops of ridiculous? Regret will not change the past, the present or the future. Regret will not rewind time. Regret serves no purpose beyond dwindling precious time away.

This is what I must remember. This is what I must focus on. Forget regret, live. We only have this moment… and I choose not to spend this one drowning in regret.
