This is worth watching EVERY day. I love it… this girl has it right…

Of birds and books…

Monday, March 16th, 2009

I have not been writing much. Sorry. I have been reading a lot and working on the first chapter of a book. I also have been watching the little birdies. =) Let me share with you some things I have been enjoying…

The World of Goo

The World of Goo

This game is fantastic! Really. I had so much fun. It is not like any other game I can think of… and the graphics and sound quality are both amazing. It is a game of physics, trying to get the goo to attach itself to itself or to other goo in order to reach a certain direction. I cannot possibly do justice to this. Try it yourself.  You will not reget it. I am anxiously awaiting a sequel.

I also have been playing this game:

1701 a.d. Gold Edition

This is fun. Exploration, resource creation and management… fight pirates, plant crops, set up trade routes, build your civilization 1701 style. This is worth hours of fun. And if you have a server, you can play this with friends. =)

This is the book I am currently reading:

Angels of Destruction by Keith Donahue

This is the long awaited second novel from Keith Donahue. His first “Stolen Child” left me waiting for more, waiting years! So far this book is enthralling — realistic, engaging characters; the story pulls you in. It is about a woman and a boy who needed someone and someone came. =) I do not want to spoil the story. Read it! You will not regret it.

Last but not least I have been practicing around the house taking photographs with my new camera, the Nikon D60. It is amazing thus far. I will some photographs soon.

Reading Man Lamp

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

I have been on the lookout for the perfect desk lamp because my current one is a fire waiting to happen. It flickers on and off and when it does, it makes this fzzz fzzz sound. The comforting sound of electricity running amok. No worries… I found one of the coolest lamps ever! I WILL HAVE THIS LAMP…as soon as I save up $230 duckets! (OUCH!) I will be saving for awhile. I think I will use the money I earn virtually for this… at $230, I imagine it’ll be there for awhile. =)

The monkey on elmo’s back…

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

And so it goes, and so it goes… =) I am 34 now. Though, I do not feel any different than yesterday or the day before. But I like happy birthdays, mine and other people’s. Fun for everyone. I like to celebrate life and people, including myself. =) As always, my mind is a scattered reflection of many things. I have thought about Cuba, baskets, puffins, elmo, socks, friends, food, snow…crows… and a plethora of things in between. I am fortunate to have friends who are thoughtful and I know I am loved. For this, I am profoundly grateful and humbled.

Thank you.

By the way, my birthday was the 18th…not today or yesterday. I just never finished this post. It is incomplete but so am I…

President Obama restore our Constitution!

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

This is an important topic. As of January 20th, Obama will be in office. It is important we begin immediately working to restore our Constitution. This article is well written and to the point. We must stop warrant-less spying. We must stop torture, close Guantanamo, shut down the military commissions, end “extraordinary renditions”…read on.

The Man Who Reads Dictionaries

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

Any logophile will grow green with envy at this man’s accomplishment. He has read the ENTIRE Oxford English Dictionary, all 20 volumes. He must have been in word-otopia! And he wrote a book about it (which I have read, it is worth reading).

Who You Callin’ a Maverick?

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

Mavericks, they are definitely not. And it appears the etymology of the word cements the ridiculous misuse of this word by McCain and Palin. An extremely liberal family coined this phrase and another (“gobblygook: referring to the doublespeak used by Repugnants) and they cringe each and every time the McDesperate campaign uses the term “maverick”.

What the world needs now is … Soft Capitalism

Friday, October 10th, 2008

A little profit goes a long way. It seems in economically challenging times, some people have figured out what we SHOULD all be doing. If we all were a little less greedy and a little more mindful of the needs of others, we could pull ourselves out of this recession together.
