Black and Blue

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

Sometimes things are so difficult to see, until we see them. At any rate, Ingrid Michaelson, a lovely favorite of mine put out a new cd. Here is one of the songs from her new album!

Music from The Other Woman

Wednesday, January 12th, 2011

I watched an incredibly touching movie, The Other Woman, with Natalie Portman, Lisa Kudrow, Scott Cohen and Charlie Tahan. It is based on a book I read some years ago, “Love and other impossible pursuits“. It had an amazing soundtrack. I went to purchase it after I finished watching the movie but I couldn’t find it anywhere. I couldn’t even find half the songs. So, I watched the ending credits over and over and over until I got all the information I could for myself and for you. Here are the songs found in the 2009 movie The Other Woman (some are missing…feel free to give me an update if you find more!).

Birdmad Girl

Birdmad Girl, originally uploaded by Anita Mejia.

This girl has got a smile
That can make me cry
This girl just burns with love
She’s burning burning deep outside

Night time night time
Sets my house on fire
I’ll turn into the melting man
I’ll lose my life
To feel I feel desire

Oh I should feel
Like a polar bear
Like a polar bear
It’s impossible

She flies outside this cage
Singing girl-mad words
I keep her dark thoughts deep inside
As black as stone
As mad as birds

Wild wild wild
And never turn away
Sends me all her love
She sends me everything
She sends me everywhere

Oh I could be
A polar bear
Oh I could be
A polar bear
But it’s impossible

I try to talk
The sky goes red
I forget
So fill my head
With some of this
Some of that
Some of every word she said

Oh I should be
A polar bear
But it’s imposible

Simply a beautiful picture worth sharing…

It makes me think of ‘home’ as if we will gather with everyone we ever loved right here in this field…muted, surreal. And then there is the bird, always… how lovely.

A couple songs to sit with…

sunshine, originally uploaded by {life through the lens}.

“Kind hearts are the gardens, kind thoughts are the roots, kind words are the flowers, and kind deeds are the fruits. Take care of your garden and keep out the weeds, fill it with sunshine kind words and kind deeds.” ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

A mesmerizing photograph, a lovely song… and a moving quote. Well worth the share, don’t you think?

There will be a variety of ladies singing for each stop along the way. Some main headlines like Sarah McLachlan will be at all the venues but others will be joining in throughout various locations. Songs lyrics by Rosie Thomas

Monday, April 5th, 2010

I have always loved Rosie…her voice, her music is a gift to me. I couldn’t find the lyrics anywhere for her song, “SONGS” and so I thought I would post them here for my own pleasure (and anyone else’s who stumbles upon them…)

Songs by Rosie Thomas

How
How do I
Get it right
With my life
With a stubborn heart
A puzzled mind
These useless worries
Worries of mine?

And how
How do I
Keep my head
My head up high
When the more I know
The less I feel

A song’s a song
But love is real
Love is real

And how
How do I
Carry on
Carry light
When the whole world
Is in my hands

A song’s a song
But love’s their debt
Love’s their debt

Love’s my chance
